Vergelegen is one of South Africa’s oldest wine and most renowned estates, having been planted in 1700 as one of Stellenbosch’s original farms. The stunning estate is comprised of almost 8000 acres of superb vineyards, a nature preserve, historical landmarks and pristine formal gardens dramatically perched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Hottentots Holland mountain range. One of South Africa’s best-known wineries and attractions, over its extraordinarily rich four-century history, the estate has played host to numerous world dignitaries, including Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Queen Elizabeth II, Bill Clinton and many others.
