CANTINA TOLLO / TERRE DI CHIETI
Founded in 1960, Cantina Tollo / Terre di Chieti is located in the hills of Abruzzo, just a few miles inland from Pescara on Italy’s East Coast facing the Adriatic Sea. The vineyards encompass over 7000 acres (some organically-farmed) extending across many different topographies and micro-climates, from coastal hills to the slopes of Maiella, one of the highest points in Italy’s mountainous Apennine “backbone”. With both alpine and maritime influences, as well as the naturally sunny climate, the region has strong diurnal temperature variations, creating the perfect conditions for high-quality grapes. The winery enjoys an international reputation and has won numerous awards over the years, including European Cooperative of the Year. Winemaker Ricardo Brighina follows a naturally-inspired winemaking style of minimal intervention and manipulation, resulting in pure, fresh, fruit-driven and authentic wines based primarily on indigenous Abruzzese varietals.
