CHATEAU SOCIANDO-MALLET
Since 1969, Chateau Sociando-Mallet has been completely revamped by Jean Gautreau, who renovated the winemaking facilities and expanded the vineyard to 83 hectares. His daughter, Sylvie Gautreau, currently manages the property. Grape varieties consist of 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 54% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, and the vines are an average of 35 years old. Unlike most vineyards, Sociando-Mallet does not harvest or de-leaf in the summer, so the size of the yearly yield is left to nature. Furthermore, the entire vineyard is hand-harvested, and all of the wines are aged for at least 12 months in oak barrels.
