CHATEAU MONTROSE
Chateau Montrose, located in the Saint-Estephe appellation of Bordeaux, is one of fourteen Deuxiemes Crus (Second Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. In 2006, French telecomm billionaires Martin and Thomas Bouygues purchased the vineyard, which now produces some of the best wines in Bordeaux. Additionally, a seven-year renovation of estate’s facilities made it green and environmentally conscious; the energy used for wine-making comes from the use of solar, wind, and water, dramatically reducing the estate’s carbon footprint. The 95-hectare vineyard contains vines that are an average of 40 years old, and its wines are aged for about 18 months in oak barrels.
