CHATEAU HAUT FERRAND 2008

This 4.5ha family-owned estate in the heart of Pomerol village has been owned and run by Mr. Gasparoux and his two sons since the 1970s and produces a mere 2,000 cases annually. Their five distinct vineyard parcels are entirely located within northern/central Pomerol, where soils comprise more clay mixed with gravel and Merlot is considered to best thrive: one vineyard in front of Petit Village, one between Clos l’Eglise, Clinet and Eglise Clinet, and three parcels between Trotanoy, Fleur Pétrus and Vieux Château Certan. Vineyards are planted 80% Merlot, 20% Cab Franc and the wine was aged 18 months in oak (approx. 30-50% new). This ex-Chateau parcel was cellared in Pomerol for the last decade and is now drinking superbly.
