FONTECHIARA
Fontechiara is a small, family-run winery nestled in the foothills of the Alps in northeast Piedmont. The Colline Novaresi DOC is adjacent to Gattinara and an hour northwest of Milan. A labor of love for the Baldone family, who reinvigorated an old farm and vineyard, Fontechiara focuses on exceptional reds made from the indigenous grape varieties of Nebbiolo and Vespolina. The eastern slopes of the Colline Novaresi are well-suited to high quality viticulture and the region has developed an international renown for the beautiful wines produced. Fontechiara uses only organic fertilizers, low yields and strict grape selection to ensure perfectly matured fruit and purposely limits annual production to ensure wines exceptional quality and sense of place.
