CHATEAU CANTEMERLE
One of Bordeaux’s oldest estates with a viticultural history dating to the 13th century, Chateau Cantemerle may have been the final addition to the famed 1855 Bordeaux Classification, but it is now first in terms of value. Located just north of Bordeaux city on prized sand and gravel soils, Cantemerle has become a benchmark Haut Medoc. Les Allees de Cantemerle is the estate’s second wine and is made predominantly from the estate’s younger vines, with the winemaking emphasizing fruit and freshness. The wine is aged primarily in French oak vats and is made for early consumption, featuring light tannins and a decided softness in the mouth. Supple and elegant, the wine features fine tannins, moderate acidity and a delicate fruitiness.
